Product Review : NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint

Hello guys!
On today's blog post we will be reviewing NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint ($63.00AU). I was SO excited when I saw they released this. Being a busy on the go mother I am in constant search for a good tinted moisturiser that provides SPF and gives coverage with a punch. Of course being the makeup fanatic that I am, after seeing various reviews via blogs and youtube I had-to-buy-it.
Admittedly, I wasn't going to review this product, but after using it various times I had some thoughts of my own and just had to review the product twice for this blog post (not using a setting powder AND using a setting powder).
Purchase product HERE.

Let's review it shall we?

End Of Day - 10 Hours Wear
  • Very oily and shiny on entire face
  • Faded along nose and blemish on four head is visible
Verdict - Unset
I loved it when first applied. I was surprised at how much coverage this "tinted" moisturiser had. Felt like I was using a foundation rather than a tinted moisturiser because of the amount of coverage it gave off. The finish was satisfying and it felt light weight on the skin. However, I noticed it never really "set" and was transferring onto anything that came in contact with my skin (tissues, fingers, you name it).
Within a couple of hours wearing my oil became visible - to the point that I actually felt dirty and couldn't wait for the end of the day where I could wash it off. I could just feel this uncomfortable film of oil over my entire face. Now I wouldn't usually rant on about how uncomfortable I felt and how oily my skin became like a big princess throwing a tantrum on her throne... but, I spent a good $63.00 on a tinted moisturiser from a reputable brand that claims it controls unwanted shine, also the fact that the product contains no oil, I was expecting something amazing.
Of course, I didn't want to admit defeat on my purchase so I decided to give it another shot by putting it on trial again but this time setting it with a powder.

TRIAL
Using it with a setting powder

Before
  • No primers applied.
  • Redness along nose, jawline and chin
  • Minor red blemishes
After

  • Applied a setting powder
  • Concealed all redness and blemishes
Makeup Of The Day

End Of The Day - 10 Hours Wear

  • Oil over entire face
  • Faded for the most part of my face
  • Setting it did nothing!
Verdict - Set
Setting it did absolutely nothing. it still gave me the same oily result. Am I disappointed? Absolutely. I guess my expectations were high because of the money I had spent and the amazing reviews I had viewed online. I guess what works for one doesn't necessarily work for anther and vice versa?
Admittedly, I still refuse to announce defeat and will still use the product, maybe mixing it with other foundations? I don't know. Either way I know I've tried foundations/tinted moisturises that cost less and doesn't leave me greasy at the end of the day.

I hope you all found this review helpful.
How have you guys gone with this product?

xx/Vanessa
