DIY: Chopping Board Recipe Holder
Hi crafty DIYers! Today's DIY blog post is based on both procrastination and Pinterest. Procrastination because this is a DIY I've had on hold for about a year. Pinterest because that's where I found this little DIY.
Since I'm all about making things on a tight budget, and because a circular saw or anything above used without my husband's supervision absolutely terrifies me, this is my own affordable and easy regurgitated version of a DIY Chopping Board Recipe Holder.
Now I know many of you guys may skip this paragraph and jump straight to the DIY, but just in case any of you guys are questioning "What the hell does this thing do?", I'll explain. It's a recipe book or ipad holder. Found an awesome recipe you want to try out on pinterest, youtube or tasty.com? This awesome DIY will not only make your kitchen bench look cute, but will also stand as a housing to hold your Ipad, phone or recipe book upright while you whisk, bake and stir.
What You Will Need:
- A chopping board (can be an old one or newly purchased)
- Pine timber framing (I bought a metre long piece with the measurements of 70x35mm)
- Timber wedge door stopper (I chose the large size as this part will be holding the weight of the stand)
- PVA wood glue
- Spray paint (I chose a flat black colour)
Step One
Glue the timber wedge door stopper to the centre back of the chopping board. Make sure the base of the wedge aligns with the base of the chopping board. Allow a couple of hours for the glue to dry in place.
Tip: Use cardboard or paper to clean the edges of any excess glue.
Step Two
Trim two pieces of your pine timber framing of the same length. I cut mine at 20cms each.Use the PVA wood glue to attach the two pieces creating an L shape as indicated in the photo. Allow the trimmings to dry.
Step Three
Once the pieces have dried, attach and glue the pine timber framing to the base of the front the chopping board.
Step Four
Clean the edges and allow to dry.
Step Five
Finish by spray painting your holder. Spray in light layers and allow to dry between each layer for a smooth and even finish.
There you have it! Easy right?
Thanks for joining in guys. I know it's been awhile since I've posted any DIY's, or anything on social media for that matter. But don't worry, a post will be coming up where I explain where I've been and what I've been up to.
