Vanessa's 30 Day Self Care Challenge

Hello everyone!
If you follow me on my youtube channel (CLICK HERE) or any of my social media platforms you guys would know that I am participating in a 30 Day Self-care Challenge. As promised in the previous episodes, here is the dedicated blog post for the challenge.

What is the 30 Day Self Care Challenge?

A challenge wherein for the next 30 days I do a task solely and completely dedicated to self-care and self-love. Sounds easy? Surprisingly it's actually not. Within days of the challenge you soon realise how much of your day you actually dedicate to yourself.

Why am I doing this challenge?

It's hard not to answer this question without getting raw. To be honest the last year I had dedicated myself entirely on trying to be the picture perfect mother. I threw all my hobbies and things I was passionate about aside to collect dust so that I could dedicate myself into trying to be a person whom others kept telling me I should be. What happens when you throw your passions to the side and you neglect yourself? Low self-esteem, autopilot, negativity and bitterness towards everyone and everything. Then an incident happened, an incident that made me realise:

  1. You can never get a bitter persons approval, nor do you need it.
  2. I was making myself completely miserable in hopes to make other people happy.
  3. This wasn't me.
So I broke away. As angry as I could be at the few people who made me feel worthless and like I was not enough, I have to thank them, without them I wouldn't have realised how important it is to put myself first and to just be myself. And that's just it, put myself first and to just be myself, loud and proud. That's why I'm doing this challenge, to rediscover who I am, to love and nurture myself again, to be happy and live by the terms that I want to live by. As I progress in this challenge I am learning so much more about who I am and I am discovering more reasons as to why doing this challenge is good for me.

Why should you do this challenge?

You don't have to, but so far I wouldn't say no to it. You don't have to do it identically to how my list is set out. I made my list customised to my lifestyle and what I know I could accomplish (I couldn't afford a holiday to a dream destination in the next 30 days and there are only two days a week where I don't have any children for an entire 6 hour gap), so those are things to be considered, but take this list and many other self-care challenge lists as reference and create your own.
