DIY 3D Spiderman Party Invitation

Image
My son goes through many different phases. Like any fan girl, once he likes something, he is devoted and obsessed. A couple of years ago it was Woody, last year it was Iron Man, this year it is Spiderman. And just like all those previous years, he wants EVERYTHING covered in his latest love. Shirts, walls, plates, shoes, dear god he even asked his barber to shave spiderwebs into his hair. So what do you think he said when I asked him what theme he wanted his birthday to be this year? You got it! Spiderman! He claimed Peter Parkers thrown, while I was playing Peter Porker trying to organise an intimate and fun Spiderman birthday for my son on a tight budget. This is a DIY tutorial on how I made the invitations for my baby boys 5th Spiderman Birthday Party What you will need: Spiderman Template  Downloadable Template HERE A4 BLACK cardboard A4 RED cardboard A4 BLUE cardboard A4 WHITE cardboard Led Pencil Scissors Double sided foam tape (Available at majority cr...

DIY Macrame Feather Earrings

Image
For the past few weeks I've been trying to expand my knowledge and learn some Macrame art, what were the results? Peacefulness. Honestly, I'd turn on a calming playlist on Spotify and I would spend an hour just tying these knots and creating Macrame art. In the process of learning Macrame I decided to combine my enthusiasm for jewellery making with it. Thus enters this DIY - Macrame feather earrings. Take or leave what you want this tutorial and make this accessory your very own customised piece. What you will need: Twine Pliers Scissors Beads - I chose feathered beads and two black beads Jump Rings Earring hooks  Jewellery wire Step One Cut two lengths of your twine. This will be the spine of your feather, so whatever the height you want your feather to be, double the length and cut. For instance, I wanted the height of my feather to be roughly 6cms, so I cut my pieces at 12cm each.  Step Two Cut twine to the same length of the desired height. ...

DIY Spiderman Easter Hat

Image
It's that time of the year again. The time where we as parents are sent letters from our kid's schools. Well, they call it letters, we call it parents homework. Yup, it's Easter Hat Parade time! As much as we say we don't do it. As much as we say that the only thing we have to do with our kids crafty Easter hat is provide the money for the materials - we are lying. Parent's either hate it or love it. I. Love. It. I love it because I actually get to actively help and contribute to something that makes my kids happy. Something that my kids bring to school and proudly show their friends. Dad's usually the fixer. James: Mum my toy car has no battery. Me: *looks at the battery casing* It needs a screwdriver. Wait till dad comes home to fix it.  Maddy: Mum how do I sign into the Xbox? Me: I have no idea, wait until dad gets home.  Unfortunately, things in this household need more battery replacements, repairing and daddy's passwords in a year t...

Welcome to the world Charlie Mei

Image
It's been a while since I've had anything to do with my blog, or my channel hasn't? A lot has happened during my absense. One of them being the birth of our baby number three - Charlie Mei. Born on Thursday the 14th of February (Valentines Day) 2019, at 9:51pm, which as I'm writing this post would make her almost 8 weeks old. Today's entry is a recollection of the day she was born. The day our sweet little Charlie added more heartbeats into our lives and the familiar sound of new life to our home. This post is pretty much a copy and paste of what I've written in a little journal I started the day after we brought little Charlie Mei home from the hospital. Something that will be placed in her memory box to read when she's older. Everyone has their birth story, I for sure know each of my labours were different from one another. This is what happened the day Charlie Mei was born. Saturday 16th February 2019 To my dearest Charlie, You're fi...

Vanessa's 30 Day Self Care Challenge

Image
Hello everyone! If you follow me on my youtube channel ( CLICK HERE ) or any of my social media platforms you guys would know that I am participating in a 30 Day Self-care Challenge. As promised in the previous episodes, here is the dedicated blog post for the challenge. What is the 30 Day Self Care Challenge? A challenge wherein for the next 30 days I do a task solely and completely dedicated to self-care and self-love. Sounds easy? Surprisingly it's actually not. Within days of the challenge you soon realise how much of your day you actually dedicate to yourself. Why am I doing this challenge? It's hard not to answer this question without getting raw. To be honest the last year I had dedicated myself entirely on trying to be the picture perfect mother. I threw all my hobbies and things I was passionate about aside to collect dust so that I could dedicate myself into trying to be a person whom others kept telling me I should be. What happens when you throw your pass...

Just Spray Paint It. My Go-To Decor Solution.

Image
Just spray paint it. Simple. That's my go-to solution for outdated decor pieces I either own or have found for a buck from my recent trip to the op-shop. Giving something old a new coat of paint can transform it into something outstanding that fits into tomorrow's trend. Nearly everything in my home has had some sort've transformation done to it, unfortunately not all have a before and after picture but here is a couple that I could find on my hard-drive and on the internet.  One. The Outdated Candle Holder This ceramic candle holder was revamped after I got the pair for $3, our kitchen has been it's home for the last two years. I have a DIY tutorial on how to spray paint shiny ceramic  HERE .  Two. Changing Colour Themes This has been my most recent spray painting DIY. This side table used to be located in our master bedroom, it had been collecting dust and taking valuable floor space. The copper-gold didn't suit any other room in our house so I ...

Maddy and Me Designs - Fairyland

Image
Hi Readers, I hope everyone is doing well and having a wonderful start to their week. I'm happy to finally release a new series of posts that have been in the works for the last couple of months. This new series came to me when I realised how much my daughter was into fashion and design. Every day I'd receive drawings from her of outfits that she designed herself, before I knew it I had drawers full of them! So what does any other DIY crazy, sewing machinist, budget frenzied mother do? She recreates them! So, this new series is where I literally recreate, design and produce Maddy's drawings into fashion pieces for herself, this new series is called Maddy and Me . To kick off the first project we have this dress, which Maddy decided on naming Fairyland. Madeleine's Design This is Maddy's original drawing, a purple and pink dress with flower embellishments along the shoulders and not one but TWO purses (a girl can't have too many bags).  M...
